Stolze and Priva

The relationship between Priva and dealer Stolze is one of many years. It is a relationship that is set to become even stronger as Stolze set about a new stage in their international development, brought about by the dealer’s move into the Turkish market.

With a new office recently established in Turkey,
Stolze is building on its ten year history in the country and will be bringing the latest Priva products to the horticultural market there. “In Turkey there is an increasing demand for modern automation in horticulture,” says Theo Stolze, the owner of the business who has been closely involved in the design of the Turkish business. “The Turkish horticultural market in recent years has undergone rapid development, to the point that the field of automation is the top of the horticulture market in Turkey – almost to the extent of that of the middle of the horticulture market in the Netherlands. “Only a fraction (around 5%) of horticultural activities now takes place in glass greenhouses – the majority takes place in foil greenhouses.”

Agrobay

Stolze attributes the success of the company in Turkey to Agrobay in Dikili, in the Izmir region, who appealed to Stolze to help them establish a new build greenhouse project. With more than 60 acres of greenhouses, Agrobay is now the largest and most modern nursery in Turkey. “Agrobay involved us in this project from the start, and they are still our biggest customer in Turkey,” says Stolze, “growing a large range of products from tomatoes and peppers to melons and lettuce.

“Agrobay has been a true pioneer of horticulture in Turkey,” explained Stolze. “Their parent company is in the construction industry but made the move to horticulture, and was so successful that this is now very common in Turkey. Investors saw how well it went for Agrobay and have repeated the formula elsewhere throughout the country.”

Local Service

Priva has, for many years, provided the horticultural market with automated solutions through an international network of dealers like Stolze, who each operate in a number of countries. With the establishment of Stolze’s Turkish office, Priva is able to bring its products, services and knowledge of the horticulture industry closer to local growers.Theo Stolze said: “When a customer has a problem, we quickly move to solve it. “With our new facilty in Turkey, we can take action as quickly as possible – we have spare parts in stock, and maintenance can be carried out by local people who are positioned close to the market and, most importantly, speak the language.”

The market is open

The fact that Priva products and services are available locally opens up a raft of new opportunities for Turkish growers, according to Stolze. “The market is wide open, for us and for Priva,” remarks Stolze. “We expect a lot of work not only from the top segment but also from the middle segment of the horticultural market, in terms of automation systems and in terms of the demand for knowledge. For example, in 2010 we will start providing Priva user training to ensure that growers know how to use equipment and get more return on investment from their installations. This is this sort of experience and knowledge that will contribute greatly to the Turkish horticulture market."
