Priva started in 1959 in De Lier, Netherlands, as an importer of heaters for greenhouses under the name Valk and Prins. The product swiftly proved to be a resounding success, the first step along the path of innovation.
As it continued down that path, Priva kept on growing. The company's name was changed to Priva in 1965, underscoring the company's high ambitions. Managing the environment has remained a mainstay since the outset, and in the mid-1970s this manifested itself in the first process computer for horticulture, demonstrating Priva’s continued investment in new technologies and innovation.
In the early 1980s, Priva extended its activities to include climate control in buildings, and the first branch offices were established abroad.
Priva operates in a highly dynamic market sector, requiring a highly adaptable and decisive organisational structure. The opening of the new Priva Campus in De Lier in 2007 is a literal embodiment of Priva's innovative drive.
